Sew and Sews, July 16, 2013

As the summer heat stifles  the strongest of us, the Sew and Sews carry on! This week Kay and her dear Grand-daughter Olivia were there, Olivia is still knitting and she has grown up so much in the last year. Beautiful young lady. Also in attendance; Rose, Mary Jane, Betty Jane, Jenny, Susan and Cheryll.  Some were planning to go to the TRQ picnic that evening.
Jenny brought the current project. The colors are beautiful,  they are much nicer this photo.

We all remarked that sometimes the most simple patterns are the nicest. This pattern showcases the lovely fabrics.

Her quilting pattern looks like swirls and ferns to me. Another Handi-quilter girl, we compare notes.
Mary Jane has her loom at work.
Rose's little things, pincushion, in a little can to hold little projects

Little pins,  in little pincushion, in little can, for little project

little applique scotty dogs on little squares of fabric

more

Jenny is still painting the beautiful silk scarves   this one in orange, a new color for her

this one in a stunning yellow-green
Well, that's all for now, see you next week. .

The Huddled, The Few-the Sew and Sews on July 9, 2013

This week we were a small group. With vacations, traveling  and health issues our group was small, Rose, Linda Sue, Jenny, Joan, Susan and Cheryll attended.
Linda Sue is finishing the binding on her Busy Bee block.
She used this orphan block on the backing.
Susan is piecing some stunning fabrics here.

Cheryll's Dogwood is quilted, binding in progress.
Please check your schedules for a date for our picnic, sometime in August.
We discussed a possible field trip up to Becca's in Mt. Pleasant.
See you next week.

Our Marilyn, who has changed her golfing schedule, is now with us regularly on Tuesdays. She is an expert knitter. She had a friend that had lots of extra yarn, she made an afghan for her. Well, she still had more left over yarn, so this is the next one. Beautiful.

Found This

I just had to share this one. This quilt was shown at the Spring International Quilt Market. It was made by a group from Bern, Switzerland. It is their interpretation of their city. It  appears to be blocks of one size. Some of the buildings incorporate more than one block in a vertical or horizontal layout. What do you think? Mmmmm....See you Tuesday. Don't forget to check your calendar's for a possible date for our Summer Picnic.

Public Face

In order to make the Newsletter readable by news-feed or email I had to change some settings. While the blog can be read by anyone no one else other than the group can post. I will not publish any private information. That will be provided on hard copy as before. This adds some versatility. My experience has been that blogs like this are rarely found on a Google or Bing search  unless they are referred to in another wel- read forum. If we have an issue I can make adjustments. Please leave comments or questions.

Original Sewing & Quilt Expo

Just wanted to post a reminder that this Expo is coming to the Monroeville Convention Center August 22, 23,24. There are demonstrations, classes and vendors that cater to the quilter. I counted 26 classes that cover quilting subjects from intro to advanced. Garment sewing, style and design, machine embroidery, longarm quilting, fashion fit and construction, embellishment and surface design, exploring creativity, and accessories to make.

The usual local vendors are signed up as well as some not local. There will also be quilt displays.

This could be a day trip for the group if you wish and we could go in a couple cars meeting at the church or coming to my house and leave from there.

Sew and Sew Newsletter

Well, hello. I had the urge to update our method of communications. I would like to try a newsletter. I started this blog/newsletter so that everyone in the group can post here, upload photo's etc. If you need help you know where I am. If you want me to post for you, that can be easily accomplished.

This is a private listing, no one can post here or read here unless I add them to the forum. I will be adding "pages" as we go to include names, phone numbers, addresses etc. Then if you need to contact a member all the information will be here. I will have updated hard copies available soon as well.

So welcome Sew and Sew-ers!
